Has anyone seen one of these globes before? Can the sellers information regarding the history of the globe or shade be confirmed with information from OG guys? Check it out and lets hear what you got to say:

Any idea of value?

I have always been told that these where given out to the standard dealers and they where a lamp. I know a guy whose uncle owned a standard station and had one of these and it's been there for as long as he can remember. I don't think they have a lot of value in my opinion. Hey grease boy 1970 can you tell me why they are considered repros. I'm not calling you out I just don't know for sure either way.

FANTASY ITEMS made in the original molds. I've seen; Translucent amber, green, clear, purple, milk white. Some have holes in top.

Hi Shawn, all Original crowns had 7" bases to the best of my knowledge. I have personally seen these globes at different swap meets and antique shops. I do of course like them and wish to have one someday but I am on a sign kick lately. Hope that helps,Marc (If Standard issued any globes other than ones with a 7" base I would love to know).

I knew about the 7 inch base for pump globes but the amber ones where never intended for pumps from what I was told that would explain the 6 inch base. I'm still confused but then again I'm always confused lol

As greasyboy mentioned, the colored ones like that I have always been told are fantasy items. The one that were used a swag lights were red or white and had larger top openings for the bulb to fit through.

Here are images of a NOS Standard Oil "Red Crown" Swag Lamp in the original packing... Were there other "colored globes" used in such lamps? I'm not sure. The only one's I've personally seen have been the "Red Crown's"....

Keith, the swag lamp globe have a 4-5" top opening & a 1/4-3/8" straight lip on bottom.

greasyboy1970, Raised Letter Crowns have a 7" Base, except for a couple Non Lettered Crowns, they have a 6" threaded base w/ a metal collar threaded on that make it a 7" base.

I have one of the "Red Crown" swag lamps, and also an original advertisement from Standard Oil, where these swag lamps were offered to Standard Oil credit card holders, for I think, $29.95. I will try to locate the ad, and post a photo.

Great info from all, thanks. Yes those swag lamps were Standard issue as we had one hanging in the basement for years. It didn't survive unfortunately. It was in the late 70s pops thinks.
