Thanx Steve for inspiring me to get off my duff and post these pics of a museum that I visited a few weeks ago when I picked up the Texaco Twin lubester cart. This great little museum is in Chewelah Washington to the north of the Chewelah Casino on the property. When you enter there is a room that has about 5 cases of antique transportation related toys in great condition. The museum has many great cars, gas pumps and signs. Enjoy and stop by if your going that way someday!

I believe that the twin is a Benkin.

Very nice Dave!! I love the color in the crown globe. Was that originally issued like that or is that just someones own artistry work.

I think the paint was all done together but the curator said something about that being the way they were delivered from Standard. ?? I really like the base and the cylinders holder on the twin!

The Benkin is a repro if I am not wrong. They use to be advertised years ago in Hemmings Magazine. Some one close to this could help out with years they were produced hopefully.

Nice collection but I've never understood why someone takes a Wayne 492 and dresses them up like that, way overdone. What's the deal with the Rolls Royce? Looks like a conglomeration from several eras.

I agree Neil. That should be a crime; No Wayne 492 should have to look like that.

that's true but paint can make or break a restoration whether it be gas pumps, cars, bikes or any number of items, so yeah, it's kind of a big deal IMHO

But that's the neat thing about it being only paint; once the original paint is gone it can be painted over and over again without any more loss to authenticity or value. Now if he were to make alterations such as metal work, shortening it or something that can't be changed with a simple can of paint, then the preservation community would have a valid complaint.

Paul, if your that close, you better stop by and say Hi!
That paint job accents beauty of the casting of the metal and, to my eye, is very cleanly done! You can tell how much effort someone went to for that to look that clean.
I did not touch anything in there so I don't know about originality but I can ask the curator if that is a reproduction Twin visible. I seem to remember him mentioning where it came from in Canada but who knows. The border is only a short drive from there and on the flip, the ad in Hemmings was only a call away too. I doubt he would have a reproduction with the pumps that he has in his collection at his house. (including a very cool Bowser square skinned visible and a bunch more)
