I recently had a friend; Steve in St James, Missouri do the paint work on a couple of my gas pumps. He had painted the Harley Work Station that I bought from Old Gas a while back. He does amazing paint work. Everything is done is base clear. Thought some may like to see pics. The Hayes is a pump I bought at Des Moines this year and I just finished it, except for the handle. This was my first base/clear paint job...

A bit of trivia: Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the twin pump? and it's not because it doesn't have a globe...

My first thought on the twin was wow, that looks great...but seems like it should have the smaller size pump plates...was not going to mention it but since you asked that's my guess.

They all look great! Very nice! On the trivia question is it the price per gallon difference , between the two brands?

That was a very good guess and although you are correct ( I couldn't find any other pump plates) that is not the mistake I was looking for....

If you get a little free time just swap out the computers, or better yet find how to change / reset the pricing . Might be a little informational for people like myself. Mr. Sim I bet has a book on the methods to do that.

Pump plates seem a little large, also the ad glass does not seem centered or something. I had the larger version of this pump and those signs worked well on that, but this I believe needs the smaller version of signs. That paint job on the lower section of the Gilmore visible pump is just great. Nice idea on the placement of the lines.

I was just going to use a plain Texaco with the black outlined green "T" that appears on each pump plate. I'm sending the metal globe body to be painted to match the pump....

You're right Craig. The pump plates are large. I looked for smaller before the restoration, but I couldn't find any. It's a little late now because holes have already been drilled in the pump.. frown The ad glass was too big and had to be cut down so I'm looking for smaller ad glass that will look better...
