I posted a valid question. I will waste as much of my time as I see fit. Don't like the post, move on.

You did post a very valid question and got 6 or so good valid responses. I guess you just want to believe its real. Buy it.

IF seller Thinks/Knows it's Real, the price would be a couple of Thousands. I'm guessing it's less than a Thousand.

Ok,I have a question....What are the determining factors in assessing the authenticity of these clocks anyway? I mean, would a "real" one have unquestionable markings somewhere that say it was built for Conoco and have a date? Like the Sunoco one that Baileybee posted, how is it authenticated other than the fact that Matthews auctioned it? It just has a couple of decals on it that look like they would be way easier to put on a clock than Marc's Conoco one. Just askin, I have no stake in this discussion whatsoever but I have ran on to some of these type clocks before and just didn't know enough about them to pay attention. I found a beautiful Cities Service neon clock a while back and was excited until I ran it past an expert whom I trusted when he said it was fake...Educate me please......GB

Oh, and Dick, on the neon I found, the guy was asking $5,000 for it....

Although no expert, other than having been around a bit of old stuff over the years, I'm betting at that age the graphics would have been painted or screened on, not a decal.
The clock and the decal just do not jibe to my eyes.

dick is right about the clock is a little older, so looking inside of the clock wouldnt tell u to much but when did conoco quit using the minute man. If that was the real mccoy that clock could reach way over 5000 dollars and for these sitting at a antique shop, there not going to be dummys, if there priced at anything less then 2500 dollars there fake and they know it.
Theres crooks out there every where and wanting too take you as a fool. Good job for posting before u bought them

Judging from the size that above appear to be, they are Kitchen/Parlor clocks.
IF seller wanted top $$$, he would've sent to a major auction company or listed on ebay w/ a reserve

I believe Conoco used the Minute Man logo up to 1930 when they went to the Triangle, probably wrong though.

You are correct, continental Oil company merged with Marland Oil in 1929, that was the end of the Minuteman. In all the years of my research I have never found an original Conoco clock! Always hoped for one, but I believe they never had one.

To my eyes the Sunoco is the only legit one of them all. The center logo looks to be plastic or porcelain. Its obviously a newer clock , made in the old style- probably keeping with the Victorian theme they had going with their stations in the 60's-70's. The others are old clocks cobbled together with new, old looking faces, in order to deceive in my opinion. With a drop of coffee or whatever around the winding holes. Just more trash to fool the babes in the woods. Me- I'd call the shop owner out on it-just to raise a bit of hell.lol
Half the time, with this new "craze" going on, the guy selling the trash believes its legit and gets his dander up when confronted with the truth. Lots of new "dealers" these days. They watch "American Peckers" for three months and they are experts. Conversely, I highly doubt Dan Mathews would put his reputation on the line for a made up clock.
