Hen, that is/was a nice globe, but I still feel it went high. If a person wants a glossy showpiece, get a set of nice lenses and a shiny new body, but it could be done for MUCH less. I've bought a nice single 16.5" Mobilgas lens for $150 within the last 3 years. I know prices have gone up some, but here again I think it is another case of if you wait, go to a show or petro auction, one could be had for much less.
I bought mine for $500 here on Old Gas, unrestored just a couple years ago. I don't want shiny personally, I like the old weathered original red paint on mine. I just can't see how a shiny body doubles the value, the lenses are the same? I think Scott sells them for around $750-$800, which is top tier value IMO.

Totally agree. I know i sent Darin a text when this thing went off in disbelief!!
I wanted that one but not for that price!!
Should be interesting to see if any more pop up for sale and what they go for!
