I have a very small collection of cast iron lubester lids and I recently dug this one out from under the shelves and decided to get it repainted and up onto the wall. What colors would have been appropriate for this brand? I was thinking red base area with a white center on the cover and colored lettering of some kind?? Thoughts??

That is a Tokheim oil dispenser shown above, so your lid is probably from a Tokheim.

Seems like such a boring color though? Does anyone have any pictures of signs advertising Magnolene?

simple google search brought up this. Looks pretty cool!! Leave your letters white. Paint the floor of the depression blue and maybe the top of the rim white. Leave the rest red. But maybe update the color. Good luck painting that rose on your lid.

Thanks Steve!--I think you're right! Bright red base and cover with a blue center to the cover with white lettering and accents! I have a pretty good artist that does this stuff for me, and she just might be able to do the Magnolia bloom! It would be really Kool if she could!
