I've seen an increase in the use of abbreviations here on Shop Talk. I have to figure some of you may be wondering what some of those jumbled letters and emoticons (smilies) are really supposed to mean.

Here is a link to Harvard University with an explanation for every abbreviation. Aren't you glad Harvard is spending time on this? LOL

I'm not trying to encourage abbreviations. Using real words is fine too.

Well the abbreviations are better than 'Southern' speak. You know what I mean. Here is an exchange between two 'good ol boys' (Say it out loud with a good down home Southern drawl.)

'MR Ducks.'

'MR Knot.'

'OSAR CM Wangs!'

'LIB MR Ducks!'

Now, here is the same conversation in regular english.

'Them are ducks.'

'Them are not.'

'Oh yes they are, see them wings!'

'Well I'll be, them are ducks!'

LOL.

No insult intended to anyone, Just good clean funnin'
