I had a Hudson/Terraplane sign from 1937 that was a well cover find. Must have been a common idea.

Same thing for me. Back in the 70's I bought a near mint 6' Gulf sign that covered a well. Guy insisted that he had to have $6 for it!! I gave him some old sheet metal to recover the well.
