I don't believe the Old Gas Transport system was ever used more heavily than it was last week in preparation for the Columbia show! I heard countless stories while I was there, about how some piece of petroliana was able to find its way there!
Other people were asking me if I knew "so and so", because he was bringing a particular item for them!
As for me, I have Mick DsChida to thank for picking up a gas pump for me in Wisconsin, with plans to meet Brad Ralston, who would bring it the rest of the way to Columbia for me! Well, Mick got the pump loaded and was headed home to plan out the meeting with Brad and fell in love with the pump on his drive. By the time he got home, we had a deal and Mick was the new owner of the pump, but he still had the matter of the original globe from the top of the pump to deliver to Brad! They accomplished that feat OK and the globe arrived safely at the show!
Meanwhile in the middle of Kansas, another transfer was taking place!!! I had purchased a porcelain John Deere sign in a small town west of Wichita and Ryan Scroggin had already picked it up and stored it for me. As we were headed to the show, Jefferson Satterlee was headed to Wichita to pick up my sign and bring it the rest of the way.--Mission accomplished.
There was also the matter of a Cities Service sign that I had purchased near Dallas and a few other smaller items that originated in Texas and were being transported to Columbia by Sean Komatisky. He made it there on wednesday and met me at the Super 8 to do the big transfer! I was unloaded and reloaded right there in the parking lot! LOL
Lastly, there was a Cities Service flange sign that I had purchased from Mark Smith, but was being transported by Joey Van Matre to the Columbia show.
Of course there were several other little "DEALS" that had transpired last year and were being delivered during the show, but they don't really count like the transported by friends items!
I want to publically thank all of the individuals involved in all of these little transfers, and all of the other people that called to offer their services if I didn't have any help yet! It was truly an eye opening experience to find the willingness of others to help out with moving objects around this big country! Strange part was that with all of the individuals involved---"NOT ONE" would accept compensation for their time and troubles! Paying it forward--The Old Gas transportation system ROCKS!
THANK YOU ALL! I only hope I am able to do something as nice for each and every one of you!

Kevin I was glad to help out with the pump that turned into a globe. Thats what this site is for "Helping Out One Another"!!! I would also like to thank Jefferson Satterlee aka "JUNK KING" for getting a pump for me from texacokie & bringing it to me at Columbia. I would also like to thanks Daniel Lappin aka "danlap99" for getting a air meter for me in GA & getting it to me in MO also. I firmly believe in the Paying It Forward I have done it a few times & enjoy it!!! I agree with you 110% Kevin-The Old Gas transportation system ROCKS!!!!!!

Always willing to help and you helped me as well. Wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed the show, but really glad we were able to meet up even for a brief moment.

And guys, I have to chime in here as well and offer a special "Thanks" to Lonnie and Aaron Hop for picking up and hauling down a pair of Rapidayton 600 skins. Saved me about 11 hours of drive time.

Kevin you didn't mention all the stuff you hauled down for us or the clockface you located for us and wouldn't take any compensation for any of it either. Then there are a couple guys back east that are getting together to bring some stuff to Dixie for us!No matter what Fox or CNN are saying, this nation still has a lot of GREAT folks.
