Just curious. What's up with the hose location on this pump? Was this some kind of option? Is this something some station owner may have done?
Any thoughts?
Here's the listing if interested.

I've had these thru here. Just an option as far as I know? Seen it on tall Bowsers and a few short MS 80's as well. Top pipe elbow looks to have been added later? Paul www.severngaspumps.com

...where's the base?

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Two pictures of this pump are show on page 286 of my Gas Pump book, and also on this page of my website: http://petrolianacollectibles.com/tokheim%2039-wnc.htm

Same pump, except your pump had ad glass panels, which was an option.

I was hoping you would chime in Jack. But the pics on the linked page all show the hose attaching at the top and I unfortuneately do not have your book yet.

I did find this pic on the Severn site. So this was some kind of option it appears. Is it fare to say there is a hose real inside the pump?

If that be the case, then from where did the catalog looking pic on the severn site come from?

Are you asking about the location where the hose goes into the pump near the bottom? I have owned several 39's and one I sold 2 years ago had it at the bottom.

Yeah, I had never seen this before and wondered if it was a factory option or like Dick had said, a farmer revision.

Factory options with a rather large hose reel in the lower section adjacent to the roller opening. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Elbow by Nozzle is Farmer Modified. Long hose reel is correct.
Pump you posted picture of is 20-25 miles from me.

When I sold the pump pictured above the buyer picked it out of several pumps because of the rusted look and original sign. I don't think he even noticed the hose reel placement and I never really gave much thought to it being different.
