Even most Acids won't hurt the glass. Before plastic, nearly everything was sold in glass containers.

Try Oxalic acid crystals , dilute in warm water ,shake em up and put in the jar preferably in the sun, if you can find some, leave container open so pressure does not get excessive inside.I use it to remove rust stains , cigarettes burns , blood stains , black & red ink stains,on furniture and to clean bottles.
