JOY - LOOK FOR THE I.D. PLATE ON THE PUMP. I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS. SHOULD BE ON THE EXTERIOR MAYBE ON THE HOSE SIDE. SHOULDN'T BE ANY BIGGER THAN 3"X3". IN THE MEANTIME HERE'S TWO VIEWS OF THE PUMP. IF YOUR PUMP HAS A CURVED TYPE TOP WITH AD GLASS IN IT, THEN IT WOULD LIKELY BE A NATIONAL.

TAKE A LOOK:

HOPE THIS HELPS(?)

I have a chance to buy one of these in good shape for $150. Worth it?? ALSO, can these be converted to look like the Nationals with the add glass top (63?)

Joy:

You can 'restore' your 300 to any brand you want. If you need to get pump plates, they are available in numerous company brands with matching globes from all the major supply houses. Click on 'Primary Petroliana Main Menu' (at the bottom of this page) then click on 'Pump Parts' in the blue text at the upper LH side of the next screen.

Later . . .

billie:

Most of the pumps had the insides left natural on the pumps. That is, whatever color they were painted by the actual pumping unit manufacturer - not necessarly the gas pump manufacturer.

I've seen pumps where everything inside was the factory color (usualy red) or where just the frame and base parts were painted and the VR unit and pump itself were different colors.

Most of us (not all) paint the insides a different color from the outer sheetmetal for contrast. It all depends on whether or not you are going to show off the inside or not. Most of the time you will have the doors closed and the pump lit for display.

If you need any further info - drop me a line and I can send you some shots of my last restoration before the skins went on.

Later . . .
