restoring my 27 American visible, my question is how do I take the rods around the cylinder off? Ive got them broken loose but if I spin them one direction, one side starts to thread out but then tightens the into the other end. Do I cut them and buy new? Is the top pressed on? Don't really want to cut the original parts and the glass is in great shape, thanks

They are standard threads on bottom only. Protect the cylinder at all cost. An Original replacement cyl. can cost upwards of $600-800!

# the rods in a crisscross pattern. OIL everything. IF you haven't loosened all yet, take your time & do 1/4-1/2 turn & let it sit for a couple hours. Repete as needed w/ time in-between to let glass relax.
Breaking your 1st [or last] cylinder is worse than being Drunk & up-chucking in a girlfriends bed/car!

maybe I jumped the gun, I thought the dome was one piece with where the rods go through on the top, so how do I remove the dome ? Soak it for days and lightly tap on it?

Ive restored a couple 50s pumps, those are easy, lol!, I came across this pump at a farm auction this fall, never really researched these. So is it pressed on or if I soak it will it "pop" off? Bad thing is when I finally shined a light into it I noticed that the nuts at the top of the rods are dust, now Im worried the glass cap is going to want to come off with the dome and possibly ruin the cylinder

AMERICAN offered several Models in 1927 [according to the Pump Book], BEST to post pictures of your pump.

Crop out Unnecessary background & Resize to roughly 6" x 7" [or what ever that is in pixels], get file size down to 150K or less & save.
