Buster, I would definitely call the police and file a report. He is either telling paypal the transaction is false or trying to suggest you committed credit card fraud which is a felony. You should contact the police and immediately file the report with your side of the story, then get the official police report number and forward it to paypal. Not to mention the police will contact him for his side of the story. They will also remind him that if he files a false police report they will charge him with filing a false police report. He may change his mind about the matter. Of course you can wait to see what course of action paypal takes first, but just an option for you. (by the way the police may not take the report until paypal makes their decision). What a pain in the butt. I also agree with Mike M's way of selling. If you sell a lot, get a cheap receipt book from Office Depot and copy their info down and have them sign for it. That is my two cents. Good luck.

Guy bought a sign at the columbia Mo show. Loved a sign and just had to have it so greg accepted his credit card by swiping on his phone. He was pleased and took the sign AFTER paypal verified his funds were there. The guy goes home and does a 600 dollar charge back a month later on the credit card and now paypal is NOT backing greg??? I witnessed the sale and he was more than pleased with his purchase and Ill gladly provide paypal or the police a statement to that affect Good Luck Bro!

Now thats impressive. In a little over three hours you guys obtain a picture,
phone number, and the last five addresses of a guy that none of you know. All
you needed was a State and name. The FBI could probably use some of you to
track down fugitives that have falllen off the radar. I hope thats your guy and
you end his days of scamming. Let this serve as awarning to anyone that thinks
they are going to scam someone or steal something petroliana related from
anyone thats a member of this site. If the member posts the details for the others
to see, ur done for. You better not try to sell that item or run that scam on the
iternet, or with any other real collector of petrioliana. Because chances are they
will be on this site or will remember something they saw on this site and you will
be busted.

This whole scenario is the main reason I never got the CC swipe for my phone. I was always horrified that a situation like this would arise. Good luck, I hope you let us know what happens.

Takes about 5 minutes to find your addresses, age, known relatives, phone number, etc.....for free(even an aerial photograph of your house and a map on how to get there). If you are on FB(and many are)...photographs of you. Dave

Thanks for all the help and replies. PayPal says they are on my side but not holding my breath. They say final decision is with his card company. If I lose I feel confident I can track him down thanks to the Sherlock Holmes quality of oldgas members. Thanks again to all.

Thanks for asking. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. His card company has 75 days to make a decision regarding the dispute. May 20 is 75 days. Paypal presented my case ( I think poorly) and has taken my money to pay the card company if they decide against me. I have a feeling I will need to track this guy down but all I can do is wait for the final decision.

Called paypal yesterday. now it's 75-80 days. Said they would contact me once discover makes it's decision. Got 5 more days to wait for the other shoe to drop. Paypal said on rare occasions they have to contact the card company for a decision after 80 days has passed. Why do I feel this may happen to me? More suspended animation!
