Based on the "Licensed by Mobil Corp." in the lower right, that immediately answers the reproduction question! Also the size is a immediate clue....

Wow!! Absolutely!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but the company doesn't take on that name until 1966. Long after Gargoyle correct?

All of the "Licensed by Mobil Corp." items are modern reproductions Steve, recently/currently allowed by Exxon/Mobil for reproduction purposes. It is true it became Mobil Oil Corporation in 1966, but items were not marked "Licensed by" until the reproduction market became a lucrative business in more recent years, for items like these signs and thermometers and the like. The Gargoyle logo itself was pretty much phased out for commercial marketing purposes by the late 40's.
I hope this helped clarify what I meant.
