Just my opinion but gut it. Once you see the mess they make when gutting them you won't want it with the guts in and they smell horrible. If it is already leaking you are asking for problems. I have sold many pumps and have yet to have anyone want one with the guts. If it was a really rare pump I might reconsider but otherwise no.

Drive with Care and Buy Sinclair!! I buy Sinclair globes, signs, cans, ect.

If the pump's going inside gut it for sure. You'll never get all the fuel out of the pumping unit and it will stink and drip on your floor. Also it's really hard to move a pump inside with it's guts in it. Moving a gutted pump to vacuum the rug is bad enough, but try it when it has an extra 250 pounds of iron in it.

If I am keeping the pump and its not all froze up I do not gut them . I do Agree that there needs to be some pumps saved with the entrails left for future collectors who may wonder what they looked like.

I like SINCLAIR and old American made stuff ... No china items.

I say old pump guts in newer 50-60 pumps dump the guts.Nothing ascetic about the internals of a newer style pump .The old boy's however are mechanically a work of art and pleasing to the eye to boot.Just like everything else that has some age to it.

I agree gut them. I collect for pleasure and there is no pleasure or convenience in having to drag around a 250-300 lb pump. Gut it out and you're left with a 100-150lb pump.

Don't know about you but that extra 100 lbs is the difference between sexy and obese. I like my pumps sexy!

...usually I don't have to drag them around...I put them in one place and leave them there...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

You sound like my Father when I wanted to buy a 60's Muscle car.He wanted me to buy a Model T & said no one wants a hot rod.
Today he apologizes everytime a Mecum,R&S or Barrett Jackson type auction runs.

I rearrange my pumps each time I get a new display pump. One new shape or color in there and it seems to upset the visual harmony and appeal of the display. Just got a Sunoco script top and I spent two days rearranging everything.

Sometimes when I get a new sign, I have to rearrange an entire wall (20-30 signs).

Hopefully, I don't suffer from OCD (obsessive–compulsive disorder). wink
