So I saw a fake one at a big car auction, without saying any names, an 850 with the whole top in cast aluminum. Now here is one that says "reissue"? I guess I don't know what reissue means but it looks like that cast top model:)

C'mon Kris--reissue means "reproduction".

Bring a little value into something, and the repoppers get busy.

I couldn't believe at the auction they were representing it as original is pretty bad. But when vendors at Barrett Jackson take a wayne 60 and put the clock face conversion kit on it they slap a label on the pump saying extremely rare clock face pump. I don't care how much money I made on it I couldn't sleep that night doing that.

"Impossible to distinquish from an original"

So he says.

Kevin, are these repops really that good? I've never seen one in person and, for the most part except for what might be obvious, I wouldn't know real from fake in a pump.

To you pump pro's, are some of these really that good?

Some are very good, but they still can't replicate the clock mechanism, so they are selling them with just the moveable hands on a face plate.
I've never seen one of these 850's yet, but the normal top section on an 850 is a 2 piece sheetmetal unit and would be easily distinguishable from a one piece cast unit.
The uninformed with surplus funds, seem easily duped, or they don't care??

That's exactly the type of knowledge I was wondering about. To a trained eye there are always little specific facts/details about certian pumps that would be the sure way for you to know.

I think to some deep pocket guy who wants a pump for his rec room, he dont care?

GPH makes the Alum Cast Tok 850 REPOP.
IF you at an auction where one is being sold, Rap the upper section w/ your knuckle, you should be able to tell whether it's Sheet Metal or Cast. The Cast Alum will NOT show where the seam should be for 2 pcs. & Reset will NOT return hands to Zero = NO Clock Mech.

As far as I'm aware of the BOWSER 300 is the Only pump were Both faces run Clock Wise when your facing each side. ALL Others have 1 face CW & CCW numbers.

I agree, I was at Barrett this year and saw that being done. I am fearful for the future of our hobby!

Dick I did exactly that and when I heard the thud of cast instead of sheet metal the light bulb went off. They had two absolute complete 36B's also for sale. I really don't care what people do for their own stuff but it does bother me to see that. At the end of the day what can you do.

Right in middle of their description, when they say it's an original, you could say NOPE it's a REPOP of original & get kicked out! LOL
