Has anyone ever put a micro switch in a gas nozzle? I am going to put a motor in my gas pump to drive the Veeder Root and would like to put a switch in the gas nozzle and wire it so when you squeeze the lever the meter starts turning. I am looking for a switch that will fit in the gas nozzle. Any ideas would help. Thanks.

Yes,I have wired my Sunoco pump to operate with the nozzle.I made contacts out oil dipstick and mounted them in a round wood dowel rod that fit in the nozzle passage where the hose screws in.The contacts meet the plunger the lever moves in the nozzle.Run the wire through the hose into the pump. This works fine.I took some pics.Hope this helps

I am using a 96 mustang windshield motor with 12 volt battery with a Battery Tender trickle charger. The battery is mounted on the tray where the flow meter was.If it was a/c it would need a rubber insulating washer a metal washer between the plunger and contact strips.I will get some pics of the wiper motor Tuesday

The blending pump was supplied by 190 and 260 gas.It was 2 flow meters that made the computer work.I only installed 1 motor on the 260 side. The 260 grade is the only one that works on my pump,to make them all work I would have install another motor on the 190 side.I wired the nozzle switch through original pump switch,so the motor will not turn on unless you hit the reset and turned the lever to on.Without this safety switch if you squeeze the nozzle lever the computer would be in a locked mode and you would burnout your motor. As soon as I find another motor I will put it on the 190 side.Terry

I'm thinking of motorizing my pump as well. Great idea on using a geared wiper blade motor. I'd like to make a suggestion and say that you should get rid of the battery and trickle charger and buy yourself a 12V DC power supply. Not sure on the amps required for that motor, but judging that the fuse is 30amp, you can buy a 12V 30A power supply on amazon for like $26 shipped... It likely doesn't even need 30A for that application anyway. How'd you couple it to the Veeder Root?
Currently have a Tokheim 39 Short under restoration.
