Over a little time, using google maps/street view, I searched out several beautiful old stations. Most not so beautiful these days. Thanks to the internet I was able to do it much faster and being Detroit, much safer, than actually driving it. I cataloged all the intersections so maybe some day I'll visit some of them. Just thought some would appreciate.

I've seen a lot of those stations in person the areas aren't to dangerous. Even though a lot of the area looks like a war zone.
Oilzum, 1qt Oil Cans, Gas and Oil smalls, Oldsmobile collectables.

Just go to Goolemaps. Put it in satellite mode. Zoom in a couple clicks short of the max. like this picture, and then click-hold-drag, click-hold-drag... and just cruise along looking for small little buildings. Usually at intersections of course. Then click and hold on that little orange man icon in the upper left of the frame. Drag him onto the street and wait. This will put you in the street. Then you can click-hold-drag 360 degrees. You can also move up the street in this mode just like your driving, but it takes longer. Just click around, you'll figure it out.

okay... yeah, I know how to use google maps/earth. just didnt know if you were actually finding them by just cruising around, or if you were using addresses that you got from other leads.
thanks though

Pretty neat Steve but sad at the same time with all of the industry gone. On the bright side ,Just think there could still be some treasures up it the attic of some of those buildings yet , one can only wonder.
I like SINCLAIR and old American made stuff ... No china items.

But how to track down the property owners? Also, I dont know how old these pictures are but I have to doubt that those staainless pumps are still in front of that Marathon with all the scrapping/steeling that goes on in Detroit.

Somewhere I have a today picture of this location at Springwells & Navy. The station is gone but the garage & power poles were still in the same place. Dave

Yea...some of those google image pix are out dated. They renovate & build on wim here. There's a photo of a bowling alley they still show, that was bulldozed for a parking lot almost 5 years ago.

Hey Steve, I would check this one out ...If ya can find the owner...Those pumps might still be there. Although rusty looking, I like the Delco sign also. I wondered why this one was fenced off. I wondered if maybe the owner intended to restore it at some time or something. Can't imagine spending that kind of money in the neighborhood/area where this is at. What would be a fair price for those pumps?

If ya can find owner, I would try and "Bundle" (lol) all the pumps and sign...The sign looks pretty shot but still a good barn hanger...Not real sure on the Toks I wouldn't offer more than 300 for the pair...Never know the owner might sell them for a song.Just ask him first, then make offer after that. Plus that building might be loaded inside!!!!

Plus that building might be loaded inside!!!! I hate to have to say it, but, no way!! Not in that neighborhood!! Fence or no fence!! They literally strip the wiring right out of the street poles here just for the scrap price.
