People ask me all the time how long it takes to do a pump. Granted this is not always true, but on this one, here is how it went to this point. Pump was already gutted. Started tearing it down at 12:00 yesterday afternoon. Sandblasted it did the bodywork, then put on the surface, in the house watching the Masters at 4:05. let dry over night. Started sanding a 8:00 am this morning, put on sealer, then went to the paint store. Came back and put on two coats of base. Went in and took a shower, let the base dry for 30 minutes. Came back and put on 2 coats of clear. Time 12:00, which is actually 24hrs, but only 8 on the pump. Will have a finished picture, probably Wednesday, (can't work on it tomorrow). Here it is in paint.

As you see in the timeline, I was thru by four Sunday afternoon, then thru paint by 12 Monday afternoon. My normal process is to tear down two one day. Sandblast two the next morning, then do bodywork on one and get into primer. Next morning get the second one done to primer and move it out. Then afternoon sand and paint the first one. Next morning sand and paint the second one, then afternoon, paint the frames etc on both. Next day put both together.

It sounds like I work all the time, but in truth I am naturally lazy. I like to race my hill climb car and go vacationing with my wife, play Golf every year or so, but when it is time to work, I like to make my time as productive as possible, so I stick to my products that save me work and time, a do everything myself, so I can control my time. I like to average three normal pumps a week. Something like that Canadian took me two full weeks, 8 to 4, so it varies.

another great looking pump Blair...
just noticed how unbelievable it is to see that Wayne pumps of that era carried over bits from other models... the receiver side panel & parts look straight off the 505/605 pump and even the earlier 80 model.

No knock on the visibles but these are the pumps I used and when they gleam and look like that, they call to me big time. The ones presented here by mikecips and Mr Underwood are sure worthy of an envious second look.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. When I said nothing special, the guy originally wanted me to just get the dials working and paint the doors, which I thought would look incomplete. I talked him into spending $1000.00 and this is the result. Not high end, but I think more finished looking.
