Do I restore or leave as is. I was not thinking new paint buy not sure now after the first light cleaning and finding that the white paint is only house paint and is coming off as you can see it was yellow. What you think? And can anybody tell me why the globe top is cut like a wavy on the top? Thanks

It is your pump, do whatever you want. Personally, I have become a fan of original paint pumps. After restoring around fifty pumps, I would love to have some of them back in original paint. As someone on here said, Their only original once.......

Rustoration...best of both worlds and you can still restore later. Dave

I would suggest to wire it up and get a globe for it and let it sit for 6 months as is and see what you think. If you don't like it you won't be out much.

Two years ago I would have never considered keeping original paint on a pump and now I think it is way better than a super high gloss finish. I just bought a Wayne 70 like this in original paint and it is one of my favorite pumps. I can't wait to get it here.

Once you piece it back together the charm and character gets better.....mine has been "sitting" for about three years now.

Once you wire it up, put ad glass and a globe on it you will be amazed how it looks. I have pumps in complete rust, but they are wired up with a globe and they look awesome

Stick a for sale sign on it and move on to the next.

All about personal preference. I restored a couple and they look brand-new and good enough that my wife will let me display them in the house.

However, the last 4 or 5 I've acquired have been left as found. I have fixed/replaced parts and computers, wired up for lights/globes; and in my opinion, these pumps now give a more realistic image of working gas pumps and days gone by.

I agree! About 12 years ago I got this at Iowa gas and was thinking about tearing it down to restore. I stopped at Ron Scobie's, and picked up a globe and installed it with some lights and the only thing I have done since is install an original used pump plate on the back. Very happy I left this one alone.

I'd leave that as is.It's by no means rusted out or neglected.
I'd jump over a newly restored pump to look at that one.
Please say it still has it's lower guts too..

Scott--Personally I would leave it as is but it kind of depends on display location more than anything! If you're going to try and get the wife to let you have it in the house----well, you might have to do a resto! If it will be displayed in the shop--I'd leave it as is! That's a nice pump.

Thanks for all the Replys I am going to leave it this way for now I order a globe and the add glass. It does still have the lower guts also. Does anybody know why the globe holder is cut like that on the top? Thanks Again

Original only once well said. But its not its painted with house paint,orginal is under it. Restore it.
