...I think that's just a Wayne 70 globe mount...I've seen them before, on Wayne pumps...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

The globe ring looks like it was a factory defect that got used anyway?? Hard to tell why it was put up there and is probably one of those things that you'll never know the answer to?

I had a Wayne 70 that was an original Fire Chief paint job and pump plate. i was so anxious to have a matching set of Waynes (Sky Chief and Fire Chief) I restored them and when I go downstairs to look at it I always think I wish I had left it alone.....

...Kevin, the ones I've seen like this are uniform - that is, the wave is consistent along the edge...it's not irregular...

Must have been something with the procedure when they made them. I've had a lot of 70's and they were all perfectly flat on the outer ring? Maybe it was just a "Friday" thing! LOL

Those globe mounts were made by forming/stamping machines. Essentially large presses that cut and formed the piece usually in one stamping. Sometimes the metal distorts during the stamping procedure and that is what you are noticing along the top edge.
