Looking for ideas on how to locate the exotic pump or neon sign that I would like. See lots of pictures of these items back east, but out west just do not get to see or fall onto these items. Suggestions of how to trade, buy, or what to get some of these items out in the arena.

Craig , I always am thinking of places and have visions of a old former station that the owner has tucked away a showcase pump or a pair of Romans etc , guess we all dream of that . Hope you stump you toe on one some day. It will happen when your not even thinking about I bet as well or that how it seems to work . Somewhere ,I bet some are still out there.
I like SINCLAIR and old American made stuff ... No china items.

Yes, stuff is still there as evidence shows in the case of the large group of Texaco signs that were just found. Thanks Craig

When I found the neon Pegasus it had been on Craigslist for 6 days with no calls. I believe it's all a bout luck.

What's the problem? There is/was a decent Roman on ebay, Minuteman has a nice pump in for trade ads. Get your cash out and get after it. Go to all the shows and interact with everyone. It takes a pretty good stroke of luck to find a ten thousand dollar pump or sign for 500 bucks anymore, if that is what you're thinking.
Still looking for that Union 76 ball And I collect big old porcelain neon signs

It's all about relationships when you're talking about wanting items that weren't in your area. Establish connections with collectors, "pickers", scrapers, and make some purchases. Get the money flowing and let em know you are a buyer. Sometimes you have to buy junk to get to the gem but otherwise there is 10 more just like you wanting/asking/begging for the good stuff. It's no longer a hobby. It's now a greedy, shady, mean sport to most Craig. When the money is gone so will all the new group of players.

I am not looking for the $20,000.00 pump for 500 anymore, those days are gone. Besides that I have in the past told people what there stuff was worth and then they simply sell it to someone else with my numbers. Notchad has it about right in his post, and I believe that just getting connected to others is a great way to go. The Erie in question on here is beautiful and not for sale for cash, I do not collect globes. Problem is I like to restore items myself. I have purchased restored items before and just stripped them and did them I way I wanted, sometimes it works out good and other times things are not what they seem. It is a luck thing for sure, and as I said you really do not want to be untruthful to someone who has something just to get it and they are left with a terrible distrust. It is great to hear from so many people on their thoughts on this. Thanks
