I bought a Firestone base last year, knowing I'd never find a sign in MS so I re-purposed it. Lo and behold, a few months later I bought the sign out of New Mexico.

I normally don't get much gas and oil. Here are my two signs. I went to a farm with a friend to look over a piece of farm equipment, and these were in the loft of the barn.

The Co-op sign is from a town that was dissolved years ago. It's a bit scratched up, but I still love it!

Great Buys!

I got a couple things.
Dad gave me this sign for Christmas in 2012. It looked good hanging in his garage so I just left it hang. After he passed I decided it was time to bring it home. My brothers helped get it down from the wall and we cleaned it off with a scrub brush and water. It still has a little staining on it that will come off. This sign came from the Marathon Station in Millersburg Ohio. They were one of dads competitors back when. Dad also got a porcelain Tokheim pump from the same station I also ended up with.

I also got a couple more cans I didn't have;

My best buy was this can I got from my brother. It also has a story to it. Mark bought the sign and the can at Iowa Gas last year from a friend of ours. The friend bought the sign from Jackie Knott several years ago. The sign is the exact one that is shown on page 7 of the book "Sinclair Collectibles" by Benjamin and Henderson. The story also goes that Jack got this sign from Kyle Moore when Kyle upgraded. Cudahy Refining Company was consolidated by Sinclair along with all his other holding into Sinclair Oil and Refining Company on 1 May 1916. (My birthday is 1 May 1961) Sinclair kept the Opaline name and used it for the next 60 years. Anyway, the guy that had the can and sign showed them to us at the Iowa show a couple years ago but of course they weren't for sale. I think he got the can from Dave T. Then last year John Mancino had this funky looking one of a kind globe that our friend had to have. He decided to sell my brother the can and the sign so he could buy the globe from John. I then got the sign last year and the can from my brother the other week. This is a half gallon can. I assume there is also a one gallon can out there someplace?

I haven't bought much lately, but I did buy this old porcelain street sign at Peotone and it had 2 signs crossed over each other and they were Buffalo Street and 3 rd street! WELL, when I saw "BUFFALO STREET", I had to have it!
I did a major clean up on it and repainted the frame, and finally got it installed today! Seems perfect for the location and I hope Buffalo Street grows some yet! LOL!
The 2 little lubester paddles just arrived last week from a deal with another Old Gasser! He knows I'll buy quality Cities Service items and every once in a while, I get a call while he's walking thru someone's collection, or just moseying thru some show grounds! He' turned out to be a lot of help for my collection and a great friend to boot! Thanks to Tom Van Holten--you're one of the good guys my friend!
