First off, just wanted to give a thumbs up to Aumann Auctions for putting on a great show. I had a blast. I had heard good things about them and now I see why. They made it a really enjoyable experience.

I thought the prices for the most part were fair, seen a post that the hideous pink Wayne 60 went for $3K, no, it sold for $800 just right for an unrestored 60.Quite a few bargains to be had too. The Gilmore stuff is in it's own world.

It was nice to meet everyone there, Bob Drake, Rex Benson, Jarvis, and DFHigdon from here, Dennis Griffin from Socal, and Art Redford from this area, among others. Here's a pic of myself, Rex, Jarvis, and lastgas15 Bob with one of my new treasures.

Here's a shot of my stuff after unloading and sorting out a bit

Now I know what you're thinking, he's got lots of dough, not true, I'm a public works employee, just a working shmoe. But I've been anticipating and planning for this since Jan. of 1999. Yeah, it helps to be single too. All of it except for the Texaco sign in the background came from the auction.

Here's an item I had to have with my name on it, Dennis Griffin bought a lot of Union items and was nice enough to sell me this from the lot.

Well gotta go, promised the pickup a Meguires #7 rubdown and waxing if she behaved on the trip, 4700 miles, like a rock.

The confusion came from the fact that the website listed the high bid on the wayne 60 as it was bidding at $3000 to those bidding online, Aumann didnt correct it until the next day. Bidspotter never did correct it while they were on line Saturday. Just one of the glitches of bidding online I guess.

Yeah Paul, the Signal globe is in the hands of another collector. I had $3600 written down as my limit on that, that got blown out real quick. I figured it would probably go for around $4500, 10K was the surprise of the auction for me.

The Wayne 60-S display, I hadn't even planned on bidding on it, but it started out real slow, I jumped in heck I'm not gonna let that sell for $600, next thing you know I'm in for two thou. Oh well got a display pump now. Now I need to find a Tokheim 36-B for that "Mobilgas" glass dome I picked up.

Looking for a Tokheim 36? Check with anyone within 500miles of Dick Bennett. I'm sure they will sell their pump as Dick has all the tops ! haha
Hey Vern, I couldn't believe the "DEAL" you got on the 76 Neon sign ! Good job !

Vern, I must say that I completely agree with you regarding how great aumann auctions was. They did a great job, that left both the buyer and the seller happy. I told my wife to use them if anything happens to me. Vern, you picked up a lot of great stuff, did you save some dry powder for the Flying A flange I have for you.

Hi Frank
I picked up a few pieces, but not anything great. I did pick up the associated globe that was rusted into the body. If that wasn't a little nerve racking to get out. But it's out and I am painting a new body for it. Other then a burnbrite associated sign I did pick up some lots with a bunch of smalls that I still need to go through. We had a great time and enjoyed some new and old friends.

Craig

Vern, It was nice meeting you Sat. I am glad you made it home ok with all you new toys. I agree aumann does a great job selling the petro stuff. Sometimes it was hard to tell what a couple of the auctioneers was saying but that's an auction. What is nice is they have there own people running the Internet bidding so every now and then they would wait of the net a little longer than they should have but they are there to get the highest bid. Don't get Rex started on the 10% or Internet bidding. LOL Had to go there Rex.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Jarvis, you should have been there Sunday you would have changed a little longer to a lot longer wait for the internet.Item #1399 (near the end)took for ever,I would bid & the auctioneer would look at the internet person waiting & waiting for a bid,the last bid I think he fell asleep I almost did.
Anyhow let lastgas Bob handle the 10% B.P.He does a much better job.
I'm off to Vegas they only rake the poker pot 5% max $5.00 & give you FREE food life is good.Rex
