It would be hard to buy a sign of this caliber without being able to hold it and feel it, unless you had competent help at the signs location. Since the sign was on Long Island, the natural choice for a helper had to be "DOC" ,since it was in his backyard. It also helps that he's well versed in the quality of porcelain signs and is VERY familiar with the "Long Island Duckling" sign!
I was contacted by the owner of this sign, and she is the widow of the ex president of the Long Island Duckling Association and this sign has been in storage ever since they sold their farm and quit the duckling production. Her husband was once featured in "LIFE" magazine, along with a story about their farm.
The sign condition is a 9+ and is one of just a few known to exist! I felt very priviledged to be able to purchase it!Thank you for your help DOC!

It is a TRUE BEAUTY Kevin and I'm glad you got me involved. Heck just covering you with the purchase means I owned it for at least 5 days LOL! Wish I had some crazy cash kicking around to buy something so RARE yet so disposable to most people.

...very happy to add this one to the collection...ca. 1960, reflective Masonite sign - about 5' tall...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Original custom made Easyriders Cafe bar stools. Took me a long time to find a pair, but finally got them.

Costco Canada had similar stools on castors but without the sissy bars.

Easyriders had around 28 of these custom made when they opened their cafe in Myrtle Beach in 1997.

grin Technically it was still May when I got these, the first one a couple of weeks ago is a Koch 18 hand wind, it was disassembled in a box, unfortunately they had blasted off the original porcelain so I had to paint it ... The second one is a Marvy 55 picked up this last weekend.

Thanks to Swabby (Warren) for the glass on the Koch, way nicer than what you can buy from the barber pole parts guys and less money to boot ! ...worked perfect
