I HAVE A 70s GULF GAS PUMP AND I'AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT OCTANE THE GULF NO-NOX WAS? I HAVE READ BEFORE THAT THE NO-NOX LEADED GAS WAS A PREMIUM.

If you do some research of books on Google, you will find a wide range of octane ratings for the Gulf "NO-NOX" brand of gasoline: http://books.google.com/books?q=%22NO-NOX%22+octane+gulf&um=1&lr=&sa=N&start=0

According to Brock Yates book, the "Regular NO-NOX" had an octane rating of 80, but it appears that in other publications that the "SUPER NO-NOX" may have had an octane rating of 100.

No Nox was Gulf's premium and the octane in the 70's was 93. Super No-Nox was gone by the early 60's. Gulftane was the leaded sub regular, Good Gulf was leaded mid grade and No Nox was leaded premium.

93 octane to me sounds about right. My only problem is I have had people tell me 87 octane and 80 octane.
