I have a St Louis 409 visible gas pump. I had it powder coated several years ago and I am finally able to start assembling it. Unfortunately, I am not sure how to do that. Does anyone have any information that could help me put this pump back together. I have not had any luck finding anything on the internet or in different gas pump books. Any help would be appreciated.

Start with the base and work your way up. Lol. All kidding aside, contact Jack Sim to see what literature he may have

Even though I live in St. Louis, finding literature for the St. Louis Pump Co., is near impossible. Neither the History Museum or the St. Louis Public Library have anything, the only thing I have been able to find is ads. The new gas pump book will have a couple new St. Louis pumps, and most of the b&w pics. in the 2nd book are now in color.

I also have a 409 that I hope to reassemble this summer, I hope I took enough pictures when I took it apart.

You will find out that these things were engineered to only go together one way. If you didn't take pictures, at the time it was dis-assembled, you will just have to use common sense? Some of my better restorations were while trying to figure out the puzzle. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Notice all 1st timers.
TAKE PICTURES during Dis-assembly & Burn to a CD to store w/ parts. Life gets in the way sometime before Re-assembly.
I think WE ALL have been there/done that.
During re-assembly, you have more time for BEER w/ time to ponder How something has to go together!

Hi Jack,

Does your pump have a 22" top? The pictures I have seen has a smaller top. The base of the top is about the same size as the dome. Mine is a few inches larger than the dome? Would it be possible for me to purchase a copy of the pictures you took of your 409 pump when you disassembled it? Thank you

Both of my 409 were identical, they had the big dome.

Will get all the pictures together and burn a CD, email me your address.

Jack
