Been on the Bucket List and I'm going to do it unless something unplanned happens. Plan on taking a 6' Rebel sign, Cosden Cop and hopefully some other signs you don't see to often at swap meets. Who else is going and what are you bringing out of the ordinary??

It would be well worth my first trip there just to see the crowd around Pauls truck when he pulls in. I suspect the rest of the swap meet will be like a ghost town for a short time.

After numerous PM's the price on the Rebel sign is 7K. I bought the sign because I've always gone against the grain and being true to this, I Will Not Sell the Sign Before the Swap Meet. I Hate going to swap meets and see the harder to get signs already pre-sold!!

I am looking at going with some pumps and going to pick up items that I purchased there. I need to be there on Wed or Thursday but do not know exactly where this is at or what hotels are best and most reasonable. Anybody have any help on this ?
Thanks

If there are rooms left I'd stay at the host hotel (Embassy Suites)...it will cost a few extra bucks but your right there (show rate is around $100 per night or so)...I believe a few of the guys stay at the red roof (which is pretty much across the street)...Host hotel has a SUPER breakfast buffet with all kinds of goodies.

Classy move. Wish more would follow your lead. I really would like to see the crowd around your truck when you arrive.
If it was me I would pull in and then walk around and shop a bit. When no one is paying attention quickly lay your stuff out. Its amazing how the vultures will appear out of nowhere. I did that once and nearly sold out in 30 minutes at my asking prices.

Rick, won't be in a hurry to open up. To be honest 75% of the Pm's I've received have been from flippers/dealers. I'm prepared to haul my signs back if they don't sell. My son in Texas will get them sooner or later and that's like falling in a black hole, where they'll never see the light of day again. For those who have asked for pics

Yes, we have to get back by Sunday afternoon, so I will be leaving on Thursday for sure. Sure wish I could find someone to haul the street light stuff back and save the $2000.00 in gas.

i tried calling the CTO phone number, but got no answer and no return to my voicemail.

Bryce- If your just going to buy, you dont have to pay any fee that I know of. we've stayed at the hotel a few times and just reserved our room and just showed up. I dont think we were doing anything wrong as far as I knew-lol. If your planning on selling out of your room, that may be a different story. Call Diana @ CTO 800-228-6624 She'll answer your questions better than I.

hmmm... ok. well I paid the $50 registration fee because without it, it wont let you book it thru their website. it lists the room-to-room as a separate fee. and I did try to call them 3 times, and left a message over a week ago with no response.

the website is very helpful and convenient, but the only thing that doesnt make sense to me is the registration fee.

The way it works is, to be able to register at the host hotel you need to pay a registration fee of $35.00 to CTO and that includes drinks and breakfast... room cost is $114.00 per nite. I know some of the guys that wish to cheat, stay at the hotels in the area and drink and eat at the Embassy for free... not very well accepted in my opinion.. and definitely not good for the show promoter..

The registration fee of $35 goes to CTO for putting on the show, without a show promoter there wouldn't be a show. The registration fee allows you to have a room at the hotel for $114.00 .

as far as the drinks and breakfast it's always included at the Embassy with a registration even without this show. That isn't anything special.. standard with this Embassy.

i believe your room has to be on a specific floor for the room to room trading... which is an extra $60 to get one of those rooms

also... for those with experience: Since this is at a hotel and is a large show, how is the parking? I would imagine there are a lot of trailers and I know the lot is used for the show as well... so is parking kind of a nightmare? or is it pretty readily available?

...only if you want to sell during the day, during the show...if you're opening your door in the evening (after the show 'hours') it doesn't matter what floor you're on...

No nightmare to this show Bryce, it's well organized. Parking is across the street in field. I stay at Hilton and walk over. Do the show once and all your questions will be answered! I bought 2 pumps last year and had about 6 guys help load them without even asking. This shows called the " Big Freindly " and it lives up to it's name!! Dave

This has really become my favorite show and it really is a good time. One of the things I really like about the show is everyone gets the same chance. There is no pre pre show you don't have to show up on Monday for a Friday show. I'm not trying to knock Iowa gas as that works for them and it's an awesome show but for me cto is great get there on Thursday and leave by Saturday.

Possible pumps for sale are:

Tokheim 850
Gilbarco 904/906 Complete with American Add Glass

according to Kathleen and the info packet... trading can begin at 5pm. when I talked to Kathleen she mentioned that they do not want any trading prior to that... and the packet informs that any buying/selling/trading in overflow parking lots will not be allowed and be actively monitored/enforced by Dublin police.

thats the info... analyze it as you wish

I'm just wondering why is that such a big deal that it's monitored by the police what's the reason they request that. Just a question nothing more.

probably 2 reasons:

1 - if its not monitored, the start time may become out of hand, like Iowa gas

2 - Non-registered vendors or participants are buying/selling/trading without properly giving the promoters their dues.

I like it being enforced, I know that I can get there and have a chance at some stuff instead of having to arrive monday.

Thanks, Phil

Agreed, all SAP meets should inact the policy as it is the only fair way.It seem's that each year they keep creeping up a extra hour, hour's,or now day's.

Can't do it,many people have friends at swap meets and have them send pics on cell phones and sometimes buy items for them. Wish more Sellers would post pics so people can see items before the swap meet. Always great to see pics after a meet but they are group pics and sometimes hard to see items. Also how many times have you seen posts "Who had such and such an item??did it sell??"

All I can say is don't Click on the link and You'll be Alright!!
Items not in one group because as I walk around my collection being 70 I decided what I want to let go

All my items are Ca$H, those little Green Pieces of Paper (I'm Old Tech)

Clock is from McNear Sinclair, Mapleton,Iowa (You can Google it)It is Not a Pam Clock. Mr.McNear(only thing he would sell because it didn't work) in 1999 mailed it to me without proper packing, the crystal got busted. Used a Pam clock crystal but doesn't quite fit,but works and had to replace the movement,But It is an Original clock Not a Phony!!

That's all I got to post hope I haven't bored you to much. I Appreciate the others who have Added to this Thread and Encourage Others to do so,maybe someone will get additional incentive to go and support one of the two big meets.

Will have 2-3 gill bodies and a damaged banded body, but everyone knows what they look like.

I'm really for whatever both are good ideas lets just make a decision. If we are doing it at 12 then I would think somewhere by Andy's booth would be the easiest. If you don't no who he is he is the guy with all the oil cans right up front. If we are doing it at 6 then the bar is perfect since everybody will be there. We could do both so that if you miss one you can make the other

...and you're only 3 1/2 hours away? you need to make this show, even if you don't get to any others...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I know. I really just dont have the budget for it and it would have killed me to just come and look. And then my mom asked me if I could give her a ride upstate, so that kind of made the final decision.
I was at it last year. My first show. But I got there late Friday afternoon and missed most of what went on outside.
LOVED the Friday evening room to room shopping though.

First CTO show for me and first time setting up for the room to room evening trading. Northeast folks know me and what I sell but I can not wait to meet the rest of the "crew" so please look me up. Also introduce yourself... Ill be the one with the drool bucket under his chin. LOL LOL I have lots of complete catalog racks (wings and holders) and lots of smalls and paper plus other items (pemco aluminum shade, some tins, some maps etc. as an examples). I'm really looking forward to this event. John

Cool I'll try to make it at noon.

This is my first time to this show I'm looking for a lot of things and I was wondering compared to last year and years past how many pump parts, oil can, and smalls venders will there be approximately?

This is reilly the first real gas show I'm going to so I don't know what to expect
