...I don't know about those signs being 'worth thousands', but that definitely sucks...

...I'd think they'd be able to pull a license plate, or make/model/color of the truck from the surveillance footage...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Yep....Plus the place had them stored near the road...I live only a mile from there...The one was a QS tombstone dated 1962 if I remember right.

ABSOLUTELY NAUSEATING! As this stuff goes up in value every year, more issues like this will happen. If only we could all act with the values and morals so common in the era the stuff we are collecting was used.

Very true! Ever since all these antique reality shows, I have 10x as much competition on items. Unfortunately, some of that competition causes problems like we see here.

Sad story to hear. I think it's key to keep your collection private, only let certain people (who are trustworthy) see it and keep it locked up.

They consider YOU the New competition [15 year old kid!], not the other way around. Older competitors usually have a better idea on values & will offer higher $$.

This definitely sucks...like I've stated before, "I hate liars and thieves!". Kinda gives new meaning to the term, "going out to pick a few signs". Like the news anchor said a couple of "illegal pickers".

Sounds like, you've been running up the bids at the auction house...again.

Dave what does that mean? Luke is a 15 year old enthusiast who has a true passion for this stuff,to insinuate he runs bids up is not only ludicrous but insulting! I am pretty sure he means 10 times more people are looking for the same stuff as we all are. DB is 100 percent correct too.

John, if you agree that the older collectors will pay more...then if he is there bidding against them and not winning he is running up the prices and the net cost to them. I wasn't implying shill bids. Bad choice of words.

Much, like DB. I was trying to point out that he is the new competition as the others were collecting before him. I'm sure that's how they see him as the new collector that is costing them money.
