First time I've ever seen a round Sunoco pump plate.
Any thoughts/info?

...it's a globe lens...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I agree with mark, no place for a regular globe on that pump.

You know, I thought that looked like some kind of bezel on there!

Have you seen this before?

Is this how the pump was built by it's manufacture? If so, did these light up?
Or is it an add on by the station owner?

...yes, I have seen another old photo, that showed the same set-up...it's a 15" globe lens...I want to say it's a different make/model pump in the other photo, but I'm not sure about that...I'm quite sure it was an option offered by the pump company...too specialized for a station owner to fool with...

Would be great if anyone had a pump like this in their collection. Would love to see a pic. In any brand.

First time, I've seen this. If they were lit up, that would be a pretty cool set up.

I agree that it is a lens mounted in the panel and Sunoco also used that setup in pumps that did have a globe mount.

These are from Ed Seebacher's service station at the Brookline Junction, in 1936. Brookline Blvd, Pittsburgh PA

...hmm...well, they look smaller than 15" in diameter...Pennometers and Pittsburgh pumps? some great signs in those photos!

They sure do look smaller than 15". And flatter too.

I love that "SunFlush" tin sign.

Dan, I actually have that same set of pics in my arhcive. Just never noticed this before.

So I wonder if it lghts up. That would be very cool.

Wouldn't Jacks books make mention of such a thing?

If Jack knew anything about them, he would probably write an article about them for "CTO."

Just kidding, actually this is more in line for SB to mention in the globe books.

IF an oil company ordered XX number of pumps w/ a 15" hole in door panels, you can bet the pump company charged $X for ea & delivered them. Same as what companies will do today, Satisfy the Customers.
Fast Food Joints advertise good looking Food, but what they Throw out the window AFTER YOU'VE PAID Shouldn't be fed to the Hogs. Sure it's Edible & Might taste good to Blind/Visually Impaired customers!
