Can anyone tell me if there is any way to repair a blackspot and small hole in a cylinder made by a BB gun (darn kids)? I would also like to know the date of manufacture. The tag reads: T176 58 249973. Thanks in advance for the help and this GREAT web site!

Dick,I think the black spot is similar to when a rock hits a car windshield. This one is surrounding the small BB hole and about the size of a golf ball.
Thanks,
Rod

The Gilbert & Barker T-176 was first introduced in 1925 and production was continued until the end of 1938. This is why so many of them are still around. Because few production records exist from before 1930 there is no way of telling the exact year of manufacture for your pump, but it appears that it was made between 1925 and 1930.
