I have one just like this, of course I can't compare weight or shelving. I always thought mine was a repo. What do you think?

Rod, can't say for sure on the Arctic but seller has peddled fake items- i.e. door pushes, tag toppers, Gulfpride sign.....

Font used for "Gargoyle" and Word choice on bottom portion is a dead giveaway it's fake. Sad becuase i've been looking for a nice Gargoyle Lubester sign.

Newbie Q... I've seen this sign before, what makes it an obvious fake? The gargoyle font looks right to me, just not as thick as on my signs.

Thank you for all of your opinions. I was very suspicious. BUYER BEWARE!! Yes, it looks authentic but mine is lighter, thinner than I think signs of that era should be. I'm not an expert on signs but here are some red flags that went up in my mind. No shelving at all, meaning you can't feel any letters or logo, completely smooth. Too bad it is dated 11-39 as is mine. There is also no makers name on the back, such as "Burdick Chicago" on the back of my Enarco lubester signs. The back is also white, most are gray with rack marks.

Thanks for the input, Rod. I know of the things you mentioned. Guess my Q is really to Anthony (luminor), as to how the Gargoyle font is wrong and the "word choice" on the bottom is wrong. I assume he means "Certified Service".

Not questioning that the sign is fake. I'm just not getting how the font and wording are dead giveaways, as the Gargoyle isn't a different font and Certified Service appears on several oil grade signs.

Fake... that's been established. Is it the Gargoyle font, the wording choice on the bottom is wrong? Just curious what is meant by that. Trying to learn.

Fake sign and real signs that were posted by Pegasus a few years back.

Thanks, DB. That's why I posted the pics, for us to see the differences. Those are the "dead giveaways".

Yes, but bigger SHAME to the seller as he/she knows it's not original but gets around being called a ***** by saying, "it's old". Sounds like this seller has done this many times.

SOME ebay sellers have NO SHAME, just ask them. Shame on ebay for Allowing these type of sellers to continue peddling their POS items.

Seller doesn't claim the Mobil sign old and original, so Ebay can't do anything to him. Just saying it is "old" is implying that it might be original.
