I bought what looks like the remains of a decal set that Pure must have sent out to one of their dealers.
Here are a few examples from the kit and my question is, before I use a few in restorations do you guys think I should have a few dated reproductions done for others to use?

...at the least, you should scan them at a high resolution before doing anything else with them...

I agree with Mark...that way the artwork would be available if need be down the road, for yourself or other collectors.

The windshield service one is a needed repro..... Just make sure they are marked somehow that they are indeed repros...I saw those on ebay and missed the end of the auction.

NO ONE else Dates decals, old ones are usually marked on paper backing.

...I agree...and if they are reproduced, they should be exactly the same...

Not if you scan them. The scanned artwork will remain identical to the originals.

Printing from a scan will always have some pixilation from the scanning process. And color can shift with a scanned image.

Also, you will never get the 'gold' or 'silver' correct on those decals unless you recreate the art and offset print them. You can't get a metallic color on a digital printer. You need to actually print with metallic inks.

I would like to get the old Pure Sure windshield service decal you see in photos. They are just 2 colors I think blue and white.

The Energee and the Windshield decals are probably silkscreened on metallic paper. No way to do this with a digital printer. You would have to purchase the correct adhesive backed metallic paper and offset print/silkscreen these. You would need to do hundreds of these to make it worth the trouble. Art costs and set up fees (not to mention special cutting dies or hand trimming each one) would make it untenable to do a small quantity and still keep the costs down for the average collector.

You can digitally reproduce these using a 'butterscotch' gold color and a medium 'gray' to replicate the real gold and silver used on the originals - but the colors/sheen will not be correct.

And only lazy artists use a straight computer font to replicate these old decals. You start with a font that's close - and then you manipulate EACH letter to match the originals. Takes some time - but the art is as correct as you can make it when you are done.
