Hi all:

I just purchased my first sign and while I like it alot, I'm curious if I overpaid for it.

Pictures are attached. The seller shared with me that this sign came out of a Sears store that closed in the early 1960s. It measures 5.5" x 23.5"

Pictures are attached. Any thoughts?

Difficult to know, if you overpaid without knowing what you paid for it.

Oh yeah. :-)

I paid $280 for this sign. I'm hoping that it isn't a reproduction....

It appears to be porcelain, yes. The sign has a nice weight to it and the embossing really looks and feels great to the touch.

UN Marked by maker, Hearsay story of origin.

You don't buy Plane Tickets, Property, Cars, Funeral Services, etc. Before checking Values, why did you buy a sign you have no idea what its worth?

Time to ask Value is BEFORE YOU BUY, Whether you over/under paid for it, it's still yours now, ENJOY.

Is this seller known here to sell reproductions and represent them as something else?

He has several reproductions up for sale, but has been advertising them as repos.

This one wasn't advertised that way.

Bob, to your question.... Yes, IMO Treasureray has misrepresented many, many items (IMO)... Lacie51, is another ebay seller that has misrepresented items in the past... (again my opinion)

If you scroll down towards the bottom of this page, you will see a box with "Search" below it and "Oldgas.com search powered by Google"... type "treasureray" in the box and you will see a number of threads that discuss treasureray... That way, you can determine for yourself; What the prevailing attitude towards treasureray has been....

Sigh.

Appreciate all the very quick feedback shared with me.

Next time, I'll ask questions here before I make a purchase.

Thanks, everyone.

I remember seeing one of these a while back and liked it.....had never seen one before. Then, all of a sudden, I saw 3 for sale...all were mint condition...and 2 were from the same person. I don't recall if it was from Treasureray or not but I became suspicious.

In regards to Treasureray, watch your step around his/her auctions.......that seller has not appeared 100% legit over a period of time.
