This pic shows the best side of the sign. Reverse has quite a bit of rust on it. Approx 6'x6'. I am wondering if it worth much more than scrap iron price? Thanks for any help !!

Search ebay Completed Auctions, see what they are selling for, not ask for prices.

Good sign even if back is worse condition.

It has an intact ring and mount worth more than scrap by itself.

Personally I'd be asking $800-1000 for a 6ft like that here in the Southeast. Just the sign is worth $500-600 used as a single side and the bracket adds $300-400 in value to the package.

Worth more than scrap?? Did you really just ask that? What if it's not? Would you scrap it for the extra couple bucks and detroy a piece of American history?
In my opinion, you can't come to a place like this and ask such a thing.

put it on craigslist for $400-$500 and someone will be over by the weekend to buy it.

or price it at $1000 and have to store it for months until the right buyer needing the top of a Conoco pole sign comes along

Whoa, Steve..... Cut the new Member some slack (I can't believe that I am typing this... I have fallen so much, from when it was me "jumping on all the new Members")...

All Tim did was ask a question.... From a group he thought would give him the correct answer....

Steve, is the weather real hot in the Mid-West? And that is the reason; Your reply reads like some of the replies from us; "Grumpy Old Men"?.... LOL

Tim, yes the sign is worth much more than scrap...

Especially to those Collectors that collect CONOCO, those that collect the larger roadside Signs and those that collect and display such signs on the poles they rested on....

Welcome to Oldgas... LOL

Oh yah! I forgot to say welcome to Oldgas!

Bob, I guess you guys are rubbing off on me. And no, it's not hot. We're actually experiencing an arctic vortex, or smething like that. grin

Thanks for all of your help!

Steve, I will try and refrain from asking any more dumb questions, as I agree it certainly was a dumb one!
I have a few more pictures to post on some other items.
Thanks again all!

Not really a dumb question at all. Lots of gas pumps and signs that collectors would have wanted were sold for scrap over the years and that continues even today to a small extent.

Yeah no kidding!! There's no one better than I at asking stupid questions!!! Thinking back there are some I am seriously embarrassed about. One about Johnson oil and the 6 NOS signs that to this day I wonder what I was thinking!!

Tim, Sorry for coming across so rash!! Ask away!! There are no stupid questions as they say! My issue was the consideration of scrapping such a piece. Kind of sacrilege in these parts. Or at least to me.
