Wow. After seeing what prices were at the Iowa Gas auction, I may part this out. There's more money here than I originally thought.

That sounds more realistic.
My first thought when you posted this was you'll have to find one person that has that kinda money lying around,as well as is interested in every single thing you have for sale.
It's not impossible, but you narrow down your perspective buyers field considerably.

Parting it out will be more time consuming to you,but will more likely achieve your ultimate goal.

After looking at your pictures and list I would say your best bet is to part it out.

If you can get a shipping system down, go for it. I recently advertised a small lot of globes and lenses for sale at what I had deemed to be a fair price and then I deducted another ten percent. I ran it on OG, no interest, then on ebay, no interest, and all the local media, no interest. I got one lowball offer early on. After no interest, I countered the offer and it was accepted. Part of my price included delivery, because it is just impossible to ship 15 globes- timewise and moneywise.

The specifics incurred with the transaction won't be discussed here, but let me just say that after the experience in total, had it been items where the shipping was doable, I would now sell the pieces individually. The nicer pieces will go quickly, and in today's market for good prices. Because of the scarcity of signs at this point, the lesser signs should also go quickly, and at good prices. These two groups will probably net you more than your original asking price and you will still have a number of items left. These you can either put together in small lots (something for new collectors to build with and something for the not so deep pocketed buyers) or keep as a base for rebuilding your collection.
Just a few things to consider.

And if you run the items on here, I would develop an ironclad protocol as to who is "first" in line to buy an item. I recommend no pm's-just have buyers post as a reply "I will take this item." Cuts out a lot of whining and the time stamp is visible to all.

Whatever you decide, best of luck and highest returns on your dollar.

I DISAGREE TO A FEW POINTS.
DO NOT SHUT-OFF EMAIL/PM's. MORE ITEMS are sold to NON POSTING members than are Sold to posting members. IF you do not want to Entertain Offers, state that all Offers received will be DELETED.

IF you don't Trust the seller to do what is right, DON'T BUY FROM HIM.

There is no "what is right " question. That is infinitely debatable and has no clear cut definition. For example, if buyer 'A' responds that he wants the item and the seller has had a bad experience with, or 'A' is a known flake, the seller is free to skip over him. Scenarios can go on and on. My main point was to clearly state the rules he wants to follow. The rest was strictly my opinion. My thinking also says that if people see too many items going to "ghost" buyers they might just ignore the rest of his items. And this PM sent stuff just further muddies the water. As for offers, if it is posted in the for sale with a price, that should preclude any offers. However, I am mindful of a post you made recently concerning people not reading a post. Again, jut state the rules you wish to follow and stick to them. Also with many items listed at the same time, a PM box can get full in a hurry.

By cutting out emails/PM's, your asking him to refuse selling to over 75% of oldgas Lurkers!

I have Several on Ignore & wouldn't sell to several of them even if they Posted they wanted the item offered. Just like a restaurant/bar, they Reserve the Right to Refuse Service to anyone for any reason.

If you read, that's exactly my opinion-just lay out what his "rules" are in the beginning.

Dick: Not to change the subject, but a restaurant cannot refuse service to anyone for any reason. If you refuse service based on the protected classes, Race, Sex, National Origin, Age (except whre prescribed by law..ie. drinking age) and a few others I didn't list, the restaurant can be sued for discrimination. Just ask Denny's restaurants. But, I understand your point about not selling to someone who has "burned you" in the past. And now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

You'll have to start wearing Shirts, Shorts & Shoes Alex, No More Homeless Look! laugh

Anyone Wanting to eat at Denny's should be arrested for contributing!
IF all customers had to walk thru most Kitchens/Food Preparation areas of restaurants, they wouldn't Drink a glass of water there. The Only reason more people get Food Poison at home is More eat at home than in restaurants
