Not sure were to post this were people will see it!
Guys, this may seem trivial to many, and some will wonder what I'm talking about, but when posting pictures from a hosting site, please put spaces in between your copy\pastes in your posting. This will keep the pictures from spacing side by side and force them to space in column form. It keeps us from having to scroooolllll right when viewing on the portal page.
Jim, Admins, If I've mis-stated this, please correct me. Hopefully many will see it and it will help, over time to eliminate this subtle, yet still annoying, situation.

Maybe scroll is the wrong word. It's when you have to click the bottom bar and sliiiiide right in order to view the far right side of the screen. http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php

I know exactly what Steve is describing and it is a bit annoying when you have to keep scrolling sideways to view the photos and the recent posts column.
Thanks Mike

This picture is a screen grab from my machine. See how the two Shell globe pics are side by side and the there is a slide bar at the bottom of the screen. And you cannot see the right side of the page. Your doesn't look like this? If i understand this correctly, a space between those two pic postings would cause that second pictue to fall under the first. I know this is trivial, but it's also only a small thing for people to do. And I'm sure most have no idea about it.

The side scrolling issue of two images stuck together horizontally is usually only a problem on the Portal Page when members post images hosted on a hosting site and there isn't a blank space or blank line between the code lines for the images. Steve is right that members need to remember to separate the IMG code lines to avoid the piggy-back issue that causes side-scrolling. Not every device or browser will display the images side-to-side like that even when the code is not separated by a space or new line. This is addressed in the ImageShack Tutorial featured in our Testing Area forum, where you'll find the instructions line: "Best practice is to hit your "Enter" keyboard key twice to put space between your text and the new image." But then again, does anybody read instructions anymore?

Instructions are for the wife to read & tell ya where ya screwed up putting Her cabinet together or installing Her Dishwasher! Same w/ Descriptions. Re-read them after you receive the Busted Globe. In Description it said it had been Glued Together!

C'mon, no one reads instructions!
That's why I thought I would just throw it out there in a post. Hoping some would see it and get a little edgimication!
But after reading Jims info about the browsers, maybe it's my old machine and my older version of Explorer.

This is really stupid, spacing depends on the size of you monitor. Have a small monitor and everything will be all in one long line down the left side.

Steve, I can see the entire page and pictures are vertical. I never have to scroll side to side. Here is my screen grab of same thread.

Steve is right that members need to remember to separate the IMG code lines to avoid the piggy-back issue that causes side-scrolling. Not every device or browser will display the images side-to-side like that even when the code is not separated by a space or new line. No need answer. It doesn't matter. It obviously doesn't affect everyone. I just threw it out there and now that many more people will put spaces in which will reduce the number of intances in the future. No biggy!! Just a little annoying.

Putting in a blank space or a blank line between each 3rd party hosted image code line is a best practice recommendation. You don't have to do it, but you get what you get. Like not using a turn signal or not brushing your teeth. You can get by without doing them, but you get what you get later on at some point.
Spacing between images is partly about the device and software that viewers are using. It is more about doing things in a way so that all viewers will see the pictures in an acceptable way.

Like Maybe posting all images UPRIGHT. As proven by lack of EDITING, VERY FEW will try to correct the images. Some must be afraid of trying to Edit a post/reply [you have 10 HOURS to Edit] they will just post again.
