Hello all! I am in search of a Zephyr J.D. Streett globe for my father-in-law. He used to own a couple stations years ago and the globe from one of the original stations his father owned was stolen from his office (20 years ago). He is in his 70s now and we would really like to find a substitute globe for him. I am looking for an ORIGINAL J.D.Streett globe, no reproductions and realize I cannot be too choosy at this point! Has anyone seen any of these globes or does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked with Scott Benjamin from gasglobes.com ?
He could probably point you in the right direction.

I can't even find a J. D. Street globe here in St. Louis.

As stated above, Scott, or Lonnie Hop are your best two sources.

I know how hard this is going to be, I have already gotten the chuckle many times when I have mentioned what I am looking for! Is Lonnie also with gasglobes.com? Do you ever run across any random Zephyr promo items with Midwest Oil printed on them out there?

Not a zephyr expert... And crummy picture, but are these what you are looking for?

I am looking for one similar, there was no ethanol sticker and there was red cracked glass around the outside of it. So close! I know there are many variations, but those are the two aspects of the globe he would notice, unfortunately. Sorry to be so vague, they just moved and the picture is MIA. Thank you for your help!

You have a fabulous collection, by the way! Someday we might venture into personally collecting more than matchbooks!

Thanks zeph... I'd part with these for a good cause like yours if you change your mind. Will keep an eye out.

If the red cracked glass you refer to is actually a red ripple body with a Streett/Zephyr globe I seen one sell about four years ago at Greenview, Illinois at a Sanert auction sale. Dan Matthews was also there, and it drew a lot of intrest at the time. I think it sold for $4100.00 and I think a local farmer bought it probably for the same reason you are looking for one.

Norm, I am having a bit of a heart attack. It sounds like the man who bought the globe had the same theiving accountant! Maybe someday another one will be at auction

I am certainly not a high profile globe guy, but I do know the frustration of looking for a certain globe, and then when you find it, you pockets are not deep enough. Good luck on your hunt.
