Bettin's is definitely the Real McCoy- IMO- other one from Ohio they found on a roof is questionable, every one of these is from Ohio, might of been rejected by shell...

I know the 11 in version is definitely real. I love that sign it's been on eBay awhile!! So these "Ohio shingles" could have been made back then? They didn't make Shell's cut but maybe a 1920's-30's reject sign?

Hmm, I'm interested to find out more. Mainly because it MIGHT be a good starter AIR sign. But, I am against repops and don't want to invest in something that's clearly fake made in the last 20-30 yrs. I can see that the mounting holes are similar to the known real one. I wonder if Shell rejected them becuase they would have to re-design the sign mounting? Sizing being too big? Since it was "nailed" to a roof, I can understand damage being there at the mounting holes. Hopefully ya'll have a answer on this sign.

seller is a member here... and in my opinion, has listed it correctly with the information he has to offer. with the authenticity unknown, its not an investment piece... but would look good on the wall regardless. just hope whoever purchases does not try to resell with less information to uninformed buyer!

UNTIL it gets Permanently Marked, it will always be a problem sign.

IF you suspect it was a Reject, why would you even consider bidding on it?

Ive seen the roof pics first hand! SHADY! Pics look blurry and guy has hood on hiding....I was also told the pics were staged to TRICK people!!! They even put tar on some and chipped them all up to look original....Ohio brothers are the ones involved with having these made and decieving people! They have been doing so for years...They were EXPOSED at Auburn last year!!!

I met the seller in Maggy Valley. Great guy. I believe he has it represented well and leaving it to the bidders to decide. A local auction house had one of these recently and they are very well made with very solid raised shelving and aged look. It brought 1300+ premium. So who knows where this one will go.
Always looking for Mint oil cans. Esp Aviation and Outboard Oil Cans and pumps. Looking fot Cheerwine signs!
