Hello to all,

I just purchased a Wayne 70 C gas pump, serial number 104135 BD AM. I am wondering if anyone can please tell me the date of this machine? I am going to restore it and would like to know the exact date, if possible. With the exception of the globe, hose and nozzle, all the pieces are there. The body is in relatively good shape and should be fairly easy to restore.

Here is the pic of the pump. Thanks for helping out.

Hi Retrobob: Wayne 70-C were made from 1937-41. But were in service longer than that.I am not an expert on serial #s...but, I personally wouldn't worry about it too much. I wouldn't put 1950's or 1960's logo material. But i would say late 30s through the 40s would be safe. But, there were some stations that didn't change out their pumps and may have newer pump plates on them. I found a 1957 Fire Chief pump plate on a Wayne 70....others will chime in.

Welcome to oldgas....

1938 or later. Nobody will ask for Birth Certificate so don't worry. Pump most likely has been Gutted & will never pump gas again [like Elvis in a Wax Museum!].
Change the Faces, they are from a Later Model pump.

[Clean up workspace before starting on pump!]

I am not worried about anything, just want to know the age for my own peace of mind. And yes, the pump is gutted. I gutted it. I have all the parts. And no, I will not clean up my workspace. If I did, I could not find what I need. Not good to criticize another man's work space, if you want to remain friends.

How does one remove the crank apparatus on the pump? I removed the crank itself, but cannot seem to figure out how to get the other part off.

Thanks.

I DID Clean the work area since you were here Fred. Hotcidr stopped by Friday & said he never realized I had a Work Bench outside back door!

Cans that have been Stomped Don't require much room.

Fred, How are you doing on your Backing a Small Trailer w/ a Small Car? LOL

Only possible to tell you the year, your pump was born in 1940.

If you would like more information about you pump see this page of my website: http://petrolianacollectibles.com/wayne%2070-2.htm

A picture of your pump is also shown in my Gas Pump Identification book.

Jack,

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your efforts. Do you happen to have a parts manual with schematic drawings?

Relax? I asked a pretty straight forward question. I expected an honest, straight forward answer. Not a couple of guys jumping down my throat about my work space. Do you have an answer?
