Yes relax. It will help when you do your restoration. You got two answers of specific dates 1938 and 1940 from two of the most qualified people to do so (in my opinion) and opinions from others that stated a time period that concurred with those of Mr. Sim and Bennett. You also got complements on your work space(in a back handed fashion) complete with smiley faces. Life is too short!

No, as I said in my other posts, I asked a simple question. Since I had a serial number, I thought that would narrow it down and that some one would have access to dates by this serial number. This is not my first rodeo with regard to restorations. I have restored many different vintage items and know that one can get fairly close to the date of manufacture by reading a serial number. I was not demanding anything. And, yes I have fun when I do the restorations. I simply like to know what I am dealing with. If you did not know the answer to my question, a polite "I don't know" or "there is no record for the serial number" would have sufficed.

Now then, can you (or anyone else) answer my second question? "How does one remove the crank apparatus on the pump?"

I finally got the part removed from the machine. The part is, I believe, called the reset spindle. It was seized up and I had to cut it off. Apparently, someone had previously tried to remove the item and stripped the threads. I will probably have to replace the part with a new or good used one. If any one has a spare, I would be interested in purchasing it from a forum member. This is the part. I would like the entire piece.

Wayne 70s are a real blast to put back together after paint. The latch system is pretty much only good for half holding the door and scratching the paint, if not adjusted a little. I always have to cut and modify the claw to make it hold the door right. Just a heads up. Good luck on the restoration.

Lately I've been replacing the locking claw assembly with a cam lock. I know, you guys are going to "Damn" me for this but is sure works nicely. Paul www.severng4aspumps.com
