Its a sad day losing Dick. Is there any Associated Flying A collectors out there that have a photo of a Associated White gold pump plate or of the globe in good color and resolution? Some how I want to make that sign to use in my early gas stations of West Jordan. I have a photo of the pump with a square sign or decal and the globe on top. Any help greatly appreciated. the one you see in the photo is one I did using the globe photo and Photoshop and it is in very poor resolution. Thanks.

Bob, you can disregard the oil cans in the image (all from around 1950)...
The "Chickenwing" Flying A was used from around 1935-'37 (at some smaller more rural Stations, I've been shown evidence of use up to the mid 1940s, as you already know)...
The cans in a "normal 1935-1939 Associated Station", the cans in the rack would have been; large diamond star-burst Veedol cans... And at an Associated Station, would have meant... Tidex can.... (some Associated Stations also sold Pennzoil and Quaker State products)

Thanks Bob. This operated unti 1960. I know the sold Pennzoil as one of the later shots shows the pennzoil sign. Do you know has a photo of the Veedol oil can you are describing? There has to be someone ago has an Associated White Gas pump sign or the Globe. Are they a secret society? Maybe there is only 1? Thanks for your friendship and help.

This will not help you much but I have a pump that was originally Associated White Gold. The pump was red and not the pea green. I thought all Associated pumps were pea green. I noticed in the above picture that the White Gold pump color looks different than the other two.

Here you go Bob. Cans on the left: are the small diamond star-burst cans from 1933 - 1935/36.... Cans on the right: are the large diamond star-burst cans from 1936/1939 Except the star-burst 5 gal Tractor Oil cans, which were used until the late 40s (image below the qt cans)
