I messaged the guy on Ebay and the sign was removed from Ebay for the following reason:
I didn't think there was any interest. There was a low starting bid and noone bid. I have decided to keep it and send it for restoration with Dan VanKannel.
he does not want to sell it now.

Ron, were you going to buy that and hang it in your living room? I might be able to talk him into letting you have it..

Ron, You must like signs with holes in the middle- they will look good hanging next to each other..

I just stumbled upon this thread on this sign. I sold that sign in roughly 2006 on Ebay when some really hard times forced me to sell my collection. I live near Houston,TX, and I was on a business trip and passing through the Columbus, Ohio, area in 2000. I saw a guy turning off of the highway with a trailer load of gas pumps, and then a few minutes later another guy turned with a load of pumps. I did a u turn and followed them to a hotel parking lot where a large oil and gas swap meet was being held. I paid $150 for that Sinclair Aicraft sign. I took it home cleaned it up, clear coated it and it hung on my wall until I had to sell it. I can't for the life of me remember what it sold for on Ebay, but it was a lot more than $150. Fire in the hole....that plane is going down....

That is funny. I was at that Check the Oil show that year and saw that sign and thought of buying it. The guy told me $300 and I just couldn't justify in my mind paying that much for that condition. I had the thought of cutting a bomb shell in half, hang it on the wall and have the fin sticking out from the sign. Make it look like the plane was being shot down.
