My mae west has a cast nozzle box that attaches to the side underneath the cylinder. I have not had any luck finding a nozzle that the spout and handle will fit into the box. Anybody had the same problem ? What kind of nozzle did you use ?

I posted the message prior to yours and have collected several nozzles to use on my Mae West hoping they would hang properly. I'm interested in what you nozzle box looks like. can you post a picture. Maybe one of the nozzles I have might work for it, and I moght learn how another Mae West is fitted for hanging pumps. I've been told by others in the message below yours that nozzles hung on the valve. No one has ever mentioned a box.

I will try to get a digital picture, the box is about the same dimensions as the door on the opposite side and is about 4 inches deep. The barrel and trigger guard on most nozzles are too large to fit into the box and hang. Larry

The Mae West had a gate valve to dispence the gasoline [dry hose and nozzle]. The wet hose nozzle wasn't Pat. till 1923. You should be looking for a banana or gator back nozzle.

All the original pictures of the Fry Mae West pumps do not show a nozzle with a trigger. They all show nozzles similiar to the banana nozzle.

This is a topic I also need help with. Can anybody post any pictures of the 1)nozzle box referred to in first email, 2) the gate valve referenced as the correct item, and 3) even a picture of the banana nozzle or gator back nozzle. I would be interested in puchasing a vintage or reproduction of the gate valve. Thanks in advance for any posted pics.

This is the box on my mae west that I assume is for some type of nozzle ???? or ??????Someone must have a fry like this, and this doesn't appear to hold a banana or gatorback.

I believe you can find that same or very similiar gate valve still being manufactured and sold in the McMaster-Carr industrial supply catalog...any factory or manufacturing business would be familiar with McMaster-Carr. Valve is a little pricey(around $100)...originals are hard to find otherwise.
