How can I open up this hook with breaking it? One picture shows how its supposed to be, the other shows my nozzle, I guess it was dropped at some point. Anyway, I dont want to break it, this is a Tokheim roller nozzle.

Anyway, I dont want to break it, this is a Tokheim roller nozzle. What is the material? You might try heating the metal. If it is cast aluminum, chances are that it will break if you apply too much pressure. If you can get your hands on a steel jeweler's mandrel, the kind jewelers use to resize rings, try putting the mandrel in a vice an slowly resize the opening of the hook. http://www.amazon.com/Steel-Ring-Mandrel...el+ring+mandrel

I can understand why you want to open the hook. It is necessary for the 850. My only idea is a torch. Use a cheater pipe on the hook once its REAL hot. It might crack but you gotta try. If it does crack braze it. When you polish it will look okay.

Its a brass alloy material and with a little cautious heat and subtle prying, you should be able to easily open that up a little without any damage.

Since I am not "mechanically inclined"....I would be looking for a foundry or machine shop and take it to them. they are the experts..if they break it, they can always repair it...LOL.

When cast metals bend the casting usually fatigues and breaks. When you attempt to straighten it, it breaks because the damage was already done when it was originally bent.
Personally, I think your chances of breaking it are greater than your chances of reshaping it. Much like gambling, chances of losing are greater then winning. But, that stops no one and the lucky few make money.

Can you modify what it hangs on so that it will fit?
Can you take a bit of meat off of the nozzle hook so that it will fit? I would be very wary of a bend back if it is cast.

With heating and bending you have about a 90% chance of breaking it. I would use a dye grinder to open it up. Once it's polished it should look fine.
