BTW, I PLACED A SIMILAR AD IN THE "CLASSIFIEDS" SECTION YESTERDAY AND HAVE HAD 2 HITS....BOTH FROM MEN LIVING IN AFRICA....HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH MY AD...."WTH IS UP WITH THAT?ANYONE ELSE GET REPLIES LIKE THAT? TOO WEIRD.

Every time I reply on this website,I get an email from some ambasador or similar position from a Nigerian telling me he will gladly pay me $1000.00 american dollars for my item and or object,and requests I send him back the difference...WTF?
We had this same problem on a few of the car related websites I belong to.We addded _RemoveMeFirst_in between our email address's and it went away.
I added a similar text in mine here last week,and thought I remedied it,until I tried to reply to a topic on here this week,only to find out the webserver did not recognize me,and locked me out of my profile,cause I changed my email addy and it sent me a new password at that new email addy,for which I could not access.
Jim P. stepped in a fixed it all for me.
I should have left well enough alone..
Now if you will excuse me,I see my inbox mail light has just lit up.

Doc,
Likely your email address got posted on the classified ad web page of the newspaper. People harvest these addresses and send scam spam to them.
That's why oldgas.com has the little icon you have to click to get the address. It prevents automated scanning/harvesting of the addresses. Yours will probably get harvested here now, too, from where you have it in your want ad. You might want to edit the post and take it out.

I got the same type of reply for a posting on Craigs List. Sent them an emaile asking them to write me C/O me at my work address!!! whis was listed as the Nevada Police Dept. Strange but no body knows how to write and mail a letter........Smiling

Just delete any email messages with generic, poorly worded questions that are not specifically about your item for sale. Those are from scammers just fishing for a sucker.
Two brothers from the county south of mine were recently scammed out of $150,000 by the African "help me get my money out of the country scam." The scammers even had a guy come to visit them in person to get even more, I guess. That guy was arrested. Their money is gone.
Never respond to these guys, just delete. Anyone who wants to send extra money and get change back is a scammer. If it just seems "not right" then pass on it for safety sake. Foreign "money orders" can take a month or even more to bounce.
Oldgas.com Classifieds shield your email address so scammers can't get it. All replys have to go through a blind Web response form in your ad. If you get a suspect reply, just delete it.
