I was curious to know if anyone is familiar with Texaco Windmill Oil. I found a very early one gallon cone top can with a wooden veneer encasing the sidewalls and bottom. Curious to learn about the age and any other pertinent history/information. Really an unusual piece. The Texaco logo is stamped into the veneer along with some text including "Texaco Windmill Oil".

I believe it's one gallon. The can is entirely made of tin and the veneer is very thin layer both on the sides and the bottom. Never seen another, have you?

Yes, I've seen others... And imagine that those that live in the Mid-West and South-West where Windmills are much more plentiful than here in the PNW... Are more familiar with such cans...

My Dad's Family moved to the PNW from Nebraska... And one item that each of my Grandpa's Farms had; was a working windmill... My Dad, always wanted one... But, it never worked out, that he got to have a full scale working 'mill... Before Cancer took him...

And of course to ensure that the gears worked smoothly, Grandpa climbed the 'mill at least twice a year to lube the gears with "windmill Oil"... I asked him, if I could climb the 'mill and help... But, of course the idea of my Mom getting a hold of him, if I fell and survived... Ensured that my feet were firmly on the ground, when it came time to oil the mechanism.. (maybe that is one of the reasons I went into the Airborne when I joined the Army)

Doug (Blacktee) probably will have more info on the age of the container...
