Has anyone seen the bowser pump on ebay that is at $250,000 and the reserve is not met? Is this pump worth that much?

NOT EVEN CLOSE. Even IF it was in Pristine condition, in the orignal shipping crate, it would not sell for $6,000.00. They emailed me to say they were taking bids till Valentine's Day [Feb 14th].

I totally agree with Dick, I thought they were joking when they emailed me. It's a nice enough piece but I think I'll buy another Lamorghini instead [This message has been edited by pogogas (edited 01-09-2002).]

I got it too, thought it was either a joke or a misprint. I settled on joke.

I knew they were going to want a really high price for it when they mentioned "museum piece" 2 or 3 times in the e-mail.

For that price, you could buy a museum.

The high bidder should have tried this website first. I have some rare pumps I would sell. A Tokheim 300 for $50,000, a Gilbarco 96C for $75,000 and a Bennett 541 for $125,000. They are all "RARE MUSEUM" pieces in original, untouched condition. Any takers?

Yes, I'm sure just the history behind this piece makes it very desirable! Why rumor has it that Elliot Ness used to fill his G car from this very pump. $250,000 ? a mere pittance.

Did all you guys get a direct email message from this seller about this item? I got a message, but I thought she was contacting me on behalf of this Web site. I recommended advertising in print and on this site to sell the thing, but I offered no value appraisal. We have clearly posted our privacy policy that mass email solicitations of our site users is prohibited. Let me know if you got spammed by this person.

Who knows where she got the addresses. Could be from watching ebay or several other possible sources.

Seriously Guys, if you take a closer look at this past all the humor, I think we all can agree something fishy is up. Take a look at the histories of both parties involved in this auction. First the seller has no feedback, hasn't listed or bid on anything before that I can find. The bidder has been a steady ebayer for quite some time, and in the last month, has won only 8 out of 28 items he bid on. His highest bid placed in the past 30 days was a mere $200.52 of his vast fortune. Either he won the lottery and really likes Bowser pumps, or something is just a little wrong here. Anybody feel this way?

Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows who the high bidder is, and I'll bet he would have crapped his pants if the reserve was the opening bid. Everyone should email Paul and offer some rare treasure they have for sale (for a reasonable price of course)
