I bought my first two oil cans about a month ago. I'm pretty sure it was Dave Gill who warned me that collecting oil cans can be more addictive than signs. I'm pretty sure he was right on the money..

Funny you said that Dan. I was out in my drive cleaning them when my girlfriend got home. She looked at me and said, "how much?" I told her, she walked away, and we haven't spoke a word since. So, I'm gonna sell a couple and hope that gets me back in the house.

My girlfriend thinks anyone who would pay for a sign is crazy. I'll get a sign and ask her how much she thinks it's worth. She says, "I wouldn't give you a dollar for it." She really doesn't understand why anyone would pay for an empty oil can. It's ok though. I am making progress. A couple months ago I got the ok to keep my signs in the basement she never goes in. I want to put them throughout the house. Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen as long as she is alive. One day I'm gonna get up the nerve to bring a visible pump home. I know a lot of you guys have had this same struggle. Would love to know how you managed to pull it off.

My wife likes me collecting as it is a better investment of my money. I have my own account for doing this and i buy and sell to make my collection better. No fuss or anything since it doesnt come out of our bank account. She is even going to go to shows with me now. This should get interesting. She asked me how much one of my PPP's cost and a told her and she laughed. She thought i was kidding until she found out the real price i paid!!! LOL

Your a lucky guy Dan. My girlfriend rather me invest my money in a handbag or pair of shoes she wants. Her idea of going out picking is driving to Cincinnati and hitting up a mall that she rarely gets to shop at.

Brian, I am going to give you some advise! My stepdad told me this and it has works well!! Don't share with your wife or girl friend what this stuff costs. Write it down in a note book or get software to track it so if you pass away someone knows what it's worth. My stepdad said my mom didn't need to know what he spent on racing and all i know is he spent a lot!! LOL http://hargettracing.com/He passed away 2 years ago so my stepbrother hasn't been keeping it up.
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Things are much better now that my wife is out of the loop on what it costs. She knows its not cheap...

You need a GF who collects antiques as well. I've actually started enjoying and have a sharp eye for what my gf likes when i'm out hunting.
